2015 League Campaign Ends in Tension
After losing 8-0 at Clayton on the penultimate week, the team needed to gain more points than Shipley at the final week’s return fixture at home to Clayton.
Shipley drew 4-4 at Bingley St. Ives, while Cleckheaton managed to win 5-3 to secure survival in Division One.
It wasn’t plain sailing though. Stuart Whalley and Gary Watson gained revenge from the previous week with two wins, but the final match of the season culminated on the 18th green where Clayton’s Flannigan missed an eight foot putt to hand Morton Robinson the hole and halve the match for the all-important point required to stay up.
The result sets up an exciting 2016 season at some fantastic and challenging courses with the support of Club Vice-Captain Mark Anderson.
